A Casper native, Aaron Bannon graduated from Kelly Walsh High and received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Knox College. After two years with the Peace Corps in the Russian Far East, he spent ten years in conservation advocacy, working as a media officer in Washington, DC, as a wilderness advocate in Sheridan, WY, and as a conservation consultant in San Francisco. He eventually settled in Lander, Wyoming, where he is currently the Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Director for NOLS, the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Bannon was appointed to the State Parks and Cultural Resources Commission in March 2012 by Governor Matthew H. Mead, and he is also a member of the America Outdoors Association Board.

Bannon always finds time getting into Wyoming’s exceptional outdoor spaces with his wife Joy and son Sebastian.
