By being a volunteer in Wyoming State Parks & Historic Sites YOU can make a difference by getting involved in stewardship of Wyoming's rich natural resources and historic treasures! With your personal expertise and skill sets, you can contribute to a variety of positions that are necessary to maintain and preserve Wyoming's cultural and natural resources. Different types of commitment and degrees of service are offered.

Throughout the year we have positions available for:
  • Docents/Interpreters
  • Maintenance
  • Carpentry
  • Historical Research
  • Special Events
  • Curation (processing and maintaining collections at museums and historic sites)
  • Customer Service
  • Education
The months of May to September we have Camp Host openings throughout our system. Camp Hosts receive a free camping spot in exchange for their time. We require a two month minimum commitment. Contact Ashley Rooney for availability. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Trails play a large part in our system’s recreational opportunities. Trail building and maintenance occurs throughout the summer months, but four Trail Volunteer Days are offered each year. For more information, contact Paul Gritten, the Non-motorized Trails Coordinator.

The Wyoming State Museum Volunteers Inc. currently has about 40 members who work to support the Wyoming State Museum in fulfilling its statewide role to collect, care for, exhibit, and interpret its collection. Volunteers also undertake independent projects complementing the Museum’s objectives and enhancing the state’s cultural heritage.

By volunteering at the Wyoming State Museum, you may:
  • Work behind the scenes
  • Learn from museum professionals
  • Meet people from all over the world
  • Select weekday or Saturday shifts
  • Share your knowledge and interests
Most commonly, Wyoming State Museum volunteers greet guests, inform them of special museum exhibits and events, and answer their questions. Volunteer opportunities are also available in Archives, Collections, and Education; however, these openings are on an as-needed basis. The museum's volunteer liaison would be happy to meet with you to discuss your particular interests and skills in regards to possible openings. You may contact Nathan Doerr, Curator of Education and Volunteer Liaison, for more information.
