Wyo. State Museum Smokey Bear's 75th Birthday Exhibit

Where: Wyoming State Museum, 2301 Central Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001
Event Details:

The Wyoming State Museum will celebrate Smokey's 75th birthday with an exhibit showcasing historic posters. The exhibit will run July 15-27.

Smokey Bear was born on Aug. 9, 1944, when the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council agreed that a fictional bear would be the symbol for their joint effort to promote forest fire prevention. Smokey first appeared on a 1944 poster by Albert Stahle; the bear has been a mainstay of fire prevention poster art ever since.

Explore the history of Smokey Bear through a limited time exhibit of posters.
